Smelly Garden

The Smelly garden is a great place.

It came about through a conversation with an outgoing Year 6 child who had heard about these plants, that could help you relax if you smelled them.  The children applied for funding through local organisations and businesses and in the end managed to collect nearly £4000.  Over the course of 2 terms the garden was built - this involved 16 tonnes of gravel, 8 tonnes of top soil and countless bulbs and plants.

The Smelly garden is an ongoing project where children from across the school can learn about growing, planting or just having the opportunity to experience some quiet time.  The photos below plot the development of the garden.

We are currently putting together an application for stage 3 award through the RHS campaign for School Gardens.
