Early Years Curriculum

EYFS Curriculum Map

We recognise the unique needs, interests, and developmental stages of every child in our school. Guided by our vision to Inspire, Embrace and Succeed, we inspire children through rich, meaningful experiences; we embrace their individuality; and we support them to succeed by building strong foundations for lifelong learning. This understanding informs our planning, ensuring each child experiences a learning journey that is both challenging and enjoyable across all areas of development. Our broad and balanced curriculum provides secure foundations for future learning, offering rich opportunities for children to strengthen, apply, and deepen their knowledge—particularly through the development of language and the expansion of vocabulary.

Our curriculum follows a clear vertical progression, ensuring that children’s skills and knowledge build securely over time and prepare them confidently for Key Stage One. Rooted in our vision, it is intentionally designed to nurture curiosity, independence, and a genuine love of learning. This approach is underpinned by four guiding principles:

  1. Every child is a unique individual who is constantly learning. We recognise that all children can be resilient, capable, confident, and self‑assured, and we support them to thrive through experiences that value their individuality.
  2. Children learn to be strong and independent through warm, nurturing, and secure relationships. These relationships help them feel safe, valued, and confident to explore and take risks in their learning.
  3. Children learn and develop best in enabling environments where adults respond to their individual needs and interests. Through high‑quality interactions, carefully planned provision, and strong partnerships with parents and carers, children build their knowledge and skills over time.
  4. We recognise the importance of learning and development, understanding that children grow and learn at different rates. Our curriculum supports every child to make progress, ensuring they have the foundations they need for future success.
